The Server Administrator\'s role is to design, install, administer, and optimize company servers and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications supported by tuning the servers as necessary. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment.
Skills Required
- Manage and tune corporate Internet and intranet infrastructure; monitor Web, FTP, news and mail servers; configure and deploy e-business solutions servers.
- CIW Associate Certification or equivalent experience for those students not seeking Master CIW Administrator Certification.
- A working knowledge of Windows XP Administration including installation and configuration.
Salary Range Salaries start between £12,000 and £17,000 a year. With experience, earnings rise to between £19,500 and £31,000. Senior engineers can earn upwards of £35,000 a year.
