Travelling Abroad

If you are travelling overseas during your holidays, you should request a letter from reception saying that you are a full-time student at One-Tech and we are expecting you to return to complete your studies. You can show this letter at the airport when you return.

Visas
You may need a visa to visit the country you are going to. To apply for a visa, you need to go to the embassy of the country you are visiting. Search the Yellow Pages telephone directory for London Central. Look under Embassies and Consulates.

Vaccinations
These can be expensive, unless you get them from you local doctor, in which case, they are cheap or free. Some vaccinations take several weeks to take effect, so make sure you have them early. If you apply in advance, you can get vaccinations from your local doctor.
However, doctors do not keep all vaccinations in stock, so you must see the nurse at your local doctor's surgery as long as possible before you are going to travel. The nurse will ask you questions about how long ago you had vaccinations for different diseases. You will not know the names of these in English, so you should check the website before you visit your nurse and look up the names of the diseases in a dictionary. Write down the names of the vaccinations you have already had and when you had them, so that you can help the nurse when you see her/him. To find out which vaccinations you need go to http://www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk/home.aspx
