Police Registration

Once you enter the United Kingdom , your passport will be stamped. Certain nationalities are required to register with the police after their arrival and this will be stamped on your passport. Generally citizens of the following countries are required to register with the Police - but please ensure you check your passport stamp:

Afghanistan, Cuba, Libya, Syria, Algeria, Egypt, Moldova, Tajikistan, Argentina, Georgia, Morocco, Tunisia, Armenia, Iran, North Korea, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Oman, Turkmenistan, Bahrain, Israel, Palestine, United Arab Emirates, Belarus, Jordan, Peru, Ukraine, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Uzbekistan, Brazil, Kyrgyzstan, Russia - Inc Chechnya, Yemen, China, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, Lebanon, Sudan.

Students must register within seven days of arrival. If you are planning to live in the London area, registration can only take place at the following office:

Overseas Visitors Records Office, Ground Floor, Brandon House, 180 Borough High Street, London, SE1 1LH

The office is served by bus routes: 21, 35, 40, 133 and P3. The nearest tube station is Borough.

The opening hours are Monday to Friday 09.00 to 16.00 (except Public and Bank Holidays). You are advised to attend in the mornings as afternoons do get very busy.

There is a £34 fee for registration. This can be paid by cash, personal cheque, sterling travellers' cheque or most debit cards.

Please also ensure that you bring your passport and two passport size photographs with you. Once registered with the police you must inform them within seven days of any change of address, or within eight days of a change of your conditions of stay being made.
